The Star Project In The News

The Star Project Theatre School is calling for dancers to join Street and Hip Hop classes at the exciting new Factory centre, in Longbridge. ‘The Factory’ is a three storey flagship youth centre that opened in May last year. Among its many outstanding facilities is a purpose built dance studio with sprung floor, mirrors and changing rooms.

The Star Project will be offering dance classes at the venue from Thursday November 28, for children from the age of six years upwards. It is also looking for experienced Street and HIP Hop Dancers to join the Project S dance crew.

Project S was formed in 2010 by Star Project principal Jo Edwards. It is a young, energetic dance crew, voted the Midlands Street Dance Champions for the last two years. The dancers have the opportunity to work and train with some inspirational choreographers which has included Nathan Marsh and Matthew Grieh from Antics Dance Crew and Lottie Cunningham from Rythmn Junkiez.

There is also plenty of opportunity for live performance. Over the past 18 months Project S have performed at many events and venues including The Clothes Show Live, Breathe The Beat Festival, the Spadesbourne Suite and The Artrix Theatre in Bromsgrove.

Auditions to join Project S are being held at The Factory at 8pm on November 28. Experienced dancers from across the region are welcome to attend.

The Star Project Theatre School has expanded significantly since it was started by Jo Edwards, in 2008. Further to the classes in Longbridge, children aged four to nine years are offered Junior Street Dance Classes on a Monday afternoon, at the Abbey Stadium in Redditch. On Wednesdays and Thursdays musical theatre classes take place in Alvechurch and Barnt Green. Private lessons are also available.
