“Greased Lightning” hit Bromsgrove in June 2025 as over 100 students from across The Star Project took to the stage in our biggest MainStage production yet – Grease: Young @ Part!
On the 14th and 15th of June 2025, our Main Project students brought this iconic musical to life at the Artrix Theatre, with four sold-out performances full of heart, humour, and high-energy 50s flair.
For the first time ever, The Star Project brought together multiple locations to create two collaborative casts:
Droitwich & Worcester combined for two vibrant performances
Barnt Green & Cofton Hackett joined forces to deliver their own dynamic take on the show
Each cast delivered a completely unique version of Grease: Young @ Part, with full company numbers, live vocals, sharp choreography, and incredible storytelling. It was a true showcase of our students’ dedication and love for the stage.
This production was about far more than hair gel and hand jives. Throughout the rehearsal process, students explored themes of:
Friendship and ensemble spirit
Teamwork both on and off stage
Growing up and taking on new challenges
Learning how to commit, support each other, and shine
Whether it was a lead role, a featured solo, or a background moment with brilliant character work, every performer contributed something meaningful. We couldn’t be prouder.
Each year, our Director’s Choice Awards recognise students who have gone above and beyond — not just in performance, but in effort, attitude, and personal growth. For Grease: Young @ Part, we celebrated:
Damien – Barnt Green
Alex – Cofton Hackett
Oliver – Droitwich
Polly – Worcester
These four young people embodied professionalism, kindness, and resilience throughout the process. Their commitment inspired everyone around them — well done!
A huge part of what made this production special was the incredible work of our Junior Technical Team, made up of students who took on professional backstage responsibilities:
Emilia – Assistant Stage Manager & Props
Thierry – Set & Props Management
Chris – Sound
Lucy – Lighting
These young creatives worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every cue, prop, and scene change ran smoothly. The show could not have happened without them.
A special shout-out to Sam, our Stage Manager, who began as a student at The Star Project and is now pursuing musical theatre in London. It was an honour to have him return and lead this production with such passion and professionalism.
