Star Project Young Company (SPYC) is The Star Project’s dedicated performance company for young performers who are ready to take their training, confidence and performance skills to the next level.
SPYC is about more than performing. It is an opportunity to become part of a selected company of ambitious young performers, working together to develop exceptional acting, singing and dance skills while learning what it means to rehearse, perform and work as part of a professional-style company.
With high-level training, challenging productions and exciting performance opportunities throughout the year, SPYC provides the perfect next step for performers who want to push themselves further.
As The Star Project continues to grow, SPYC is evolving to give performers the opportunity to train at the level that is right for them.
From September, SPYC will consist of two audition-only performance companies.
Recommended age: 11–13
SPYC is designed for younger performers who are ready to challenge themselves beyond our Main Project classes.
Students will receive advanced training in acting, singing and dance, whilst developing their confidence, professionalism, teamwork and performance skills.
Throughout the year, the company will work towards exciting performance opportunities, with a strong focus on ensemble work, storytelling and creating outstanding performances together.
SPYC is the perfect environment for young performers who are passionate about musical theatre and ready to discover what they can achieve when they challenge themselves.

SPYC Advanced is the highest-level performance company within The Star Project, created for older students who are ready to push themselves even further.
Members will work through advanced performance techniques, industry-style rehearsals and challenging productions, developing the discipline, professionalism and skills required to progress towards future training and professional opportunities.
This is an opportunity for performers to work at a demanding level, take on greater responsibility and represent The Star Project at the highest level.
SPYC Advanced is for performers who are ready to commit, challenge themselves and take their performance journey seriously.

Being part of SPYC means becoming part of a company.
Our performers will be expected to demonstrate:
Professionalism
Learning how to approach rehearsals and performances with focus, commitment and a professional attitude.
Teamwork
Understanding that exceptional theatre is created together. Every performer has an important role to play.
High-Level Training
Developing advanced skills across acting, singing and dance with experienced industry professionals.
Industry Preparation
Building the confidence, discipline and performance skills needed to progress towards future training and opportunities within the performing arts.
Performance Opportunities
Working towards exciting productions and opportunities to perform in professional theatre environments.
Commitment
Being part of a selected company means being reliable, hardworking and committed to your fellow performers.
SPYC members will have an exciting year ahead.
Both SPYC and SPYC Advanced will begin the new year by working towards a straight play, giving performers the opportunity to develop their acting, characterisation, storytelling and ensemble skills.
Once the straight play has been completed, both companies will then begin work on an exciting musical production.
And this time, the journey will lead to the Artrix Main Stage in Bromsgrove.
The musical will provide our young performers with the opportunity to experience the demands of a full-scale production in a professional theatre environment, putting their training into practice and performing for a live audience.
Production titles and performance dates will be announced once the full companies have been confirmed.
Jack, our Head of Drama, will lead SPYC and SPYC Advanced through their straight play production, working with the companies to develop their acting, storytelling, characterisation and ensemble performance.
Following the straight play, we will bring in a specialist creative team to work with the companies on their musical production.
This allows our performers to experience different approaches, expertise and creative styles throughout the year — giving them the best possible training and production experience.
SPYC and SPYC Advanced are audition-only companies.
Every member must audition at the end of each year. This ensures that every performer within the company is committed, hardworking and ready to contribute to a positive and inspiring team environment.
Some of our current SPYC members have already auditioned and are currently awaiting confirmation, pending the September auditions.
A Musical Theatre Song
Prepare a verse and chorus of a Musical Theatre song that showcases your voice and demonstrates your ability as a performer.
A Monologue
Prepare a monologue of your choice that allows us to see your acting ability and personality as a performer.
A Personal Statement
Tell us why you would like to join SPYC and what being part of the company would mean to you.
Dance Call
You will also take part in a dance call on the audition day. This will be an exciting opportunity to learn new choreography, challenge yourself and demonstrate your performance skills.
Don’t worry if you don’t get everything perfect — we want to see your potential, commitment and passion for performing.
The next round of SPYC auditions will take place in September, with the date being announced soon.
Auditions are invitation only, and every performer wishing to be part of SPYC or SPYC Advanced will need to audition.
If you are interested in finding out more about SPYC, SPYC Advanced or the audition process, we would love to hear from you.

It is for young people who are ready to step outside their comfort zone, work hard, support their fellow performers and discover just how far they can go.
Could you be the next member of Star Project Young Company?
Successful members will be required to contribute a weekly subscription of approximately £20, depending on cast size per season. This fee helps cover essential costs, including studio rental, creative team expenses, and show production. We are actively working to secure sponsorships and grants to reduce this cost over time. Any profits made will be reinvested into the company to support student development, providing more opportunities and resources to help them grow.
Applications are now closed.
